CREATE | DAY 3 OF 31
This largely unedited free-write is linking up with the Write 31 Days Challenge. // indicates the start and stop of five minutes. The prompt word for today under the 31 Days of Five Minute Fridays is CREATE.
My 31 Day writing series is called
31 Days of living well
Ready, Steady, Go...
"Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings; he created them godlike, reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female. God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
For every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”
Genesis 1: 26-28 (The Message Bible, emphasis added)
//A primary key to living well, is living each day with a sense of purpose. You were not made to just exist, but to prosper, to reproduce, to fill the earth and to take charge of what God has given you.
When God created human beings it was His desire for us to re-create and multiply.
God created human beings, in his image and likeness, reflecting His nature. God is the Creator, in Him is the supreme ability to create ex nihilo, which is a Latin phrase meaning "out of nothing”. Because we are part of the family of God and share in the family likeness, he put into us the ability to create something, not ex nihilio, but from GOD GIVEN RAW MATERIAL. You were created to create. Creation is not a matter of mere addition, creation speaks of our power to multiply.
Just think even of our physical reproductive ability. It is not 1+1=2, it is 1+1 coming together and producing something infinitely more than the two initial parts. True creativity has a synergising quality.
It is the same in living life with a sense of purpose and for want of a better word, mission. What takes life from being something that is happening to you, to something you are living well? I propose that it is the sense that you are using all the raw materials you have been given in order to create something, something that will long outlast you and your time on this earth. I read this once “If you think adventure is scary, try routine, it’s lethal.” A life that gets swallowed up in routine speaks to me of a life that is being lived without a creative edge, a creative perspective and a creative trajectory. Creation speaks of cause and effect, not inaction or at best reactions.
God has purposed us to create and reproduce from the raw materials he has provided. Raw materials such as the elements of the earth, our artistic gift and even our very bodies.
Creativity takes courage, it takes a willingness to be seen and to get things wrong. To create is to be brave. But more importantly, to create is to truly live well.//
