Welcome to "31 Days of Words to Love By." For the next 31 days, I am working my way through my Pinterest board of quotes and writing down my thoughts about each one – what they spark, where they lead me, and how they apply to every day life... Today's quote: Joy is the best makeup.

// Joy changes everything. Did you know that you can choose joy? Dee Harris says "Happiness depends on happenings." Joy is something totally different. It is a state of being. So, I'm thinking that if Joy were make up, it would be foundation.

So, what else do you need in your kit?

Concealer - that is easy. Grace. His grace. It conceals even the darkest circles and blemishes. In fact, it doesn't just conceal, it removes. Permanently.

Lipstick - Kindness - It costs nothing, but always leaves your lips looking and sounding beautiful. Kindness kisses away the harshness of life and the criticism of others.

Eye Liner - Frame your eyes with faith. Let faith door-keep your vision, do not let it become clouded by what you do or don't see in the natural, or in the faces of those around you. Let your sight be framed by faith. Also, extend good faith as you look at others, believe the best in them and see what happens.

Blusher - Gentleness - Gentleness is not weakness, but it speaks of quiet assurance and allows the heart to stay warm and pliable, rather than cynical and hard.

Mascara - I don't know what your metaphorical mascara should be, but I do know if you're wearing make up, you shouldn't leave this one out!

I guess what I am trying to say in all of this, is that you have a choice in whether you allow your circumstances and mood to dictate your style or if you will allow your life to be made over according to the Spirit that is alive and at work within you. //
